
High levels of inequality in a society serve as an easier gateway for pandemics to take hold and adversely impact communities, in terms of health and economic outcomes. This is a major finding that’s come out the Global Council on Inequality report on AIDS and Pandemics. Entitled, ‘Breaking the inequality-pandemic cycle: building true health security in a global age’. The Global Council on Inequality launches this report on the eve of the G20 meetings taking place this month. And hopes that policy-makers will lean on its findings and recommendations on how to better address inequality as it relates to access to dealing with pandemics.
